The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks faced off on February 1st, 2015 in Glendale, Arizona for Super Bowl XLIX. The Patriots had adopted a mantra for the season after a devastating loss to the Kansas City Chiefs:
"Do your job."
The mantra took off after the Patriots went from their starting 2-2 to 12-4, locking their place into the playoffs.
The Patriots won a close, nail-biting divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens (35-31) and a tremendous divisional game against the Indianapolis Colts (45-7).
"We're moving on to Seattle."
After starting a seemingly lost season to being half of the two best teams in the NFL, the mantra changed.
"Finish the job."
#12 QB Tom Brady
#87 TE Rob Gronkowski
#11 WR Julian Edelman
#24 CB Darrelle Revis
#75 DT Vince Wilfork
#95 DE Chandler Jones
#39 CB Brandon Browner
HC Bill Belichick
After 3 quarters of excellent football, the Seattle Seahawks were up 24-14. QB Tom Brady and crew went on to have one of their and his best 4th quarter in their football careers, coming back to take the lead 28-24 with 2:14 left on the clock.
The Patriots defense went to work, meticulously stopping the Seahawks' plays until a huge 3rd down conversion to put them close to the half field mark. After a freak miracle catch to put the Seahawks on the 5 yard line and a short run to put them on the 1 yard line, rookie CB Malcolm Butler made the interception and cementing a win for the New England Patriots. After a disappointing start to the season to a heart stopping final play with the Seahawks knocking on victory's door, the mantra had changed once again:
Congratulations to the New England Patriots, Super Bowl XLIX World Champions.
